Church on the Move

Our Beginnings

Church on the Move began in a living room with eight people in the Fall of 2017. They along with Pastor Tim and Barbara desired to plant a church that reflected the cultural diversity of the body of Christ and could be used to help launch other similar churches in Florida, across the U.S. and world.

After months of Bible study, prayer, raising financial support, developing a plan and adding other people, the church held its first Sunday worship service in October 2019.

God was faithful and Church on the Move began to grow.  In just 4 months we had grown to nearly 75 people.  Then COVID hit in February 2020 and we had to stop our Sunday gatherings.

We reset in 2021. While our numbers of regular attenders went down, the vision and desire lived on. We grew deeper in the Lord, developed leaders, baptized new believers and began to add to our numbers.

By early 2023 we are averaging about 100 people in Sunday services.  We added 35 new members in one service, trained and equipped people in ministry teams and leadership and began to send out and financially support missionaries.

We are part of a movement of churches across Florida who desire to help plant 40 new churches over the next 10 years, including multi-cultural churches like ours.

We believe that central Florida is the location of a new work of God for a multi-ethnic Christ-centered church.  We desire to be a life-giving church among the various people groups.

Come check us out, where a welcoming smile and handshake are waiting for you. Plus, enjoy coffee and pastries before the service.  Pastor Tim would love to meet you.

Pastor Tim & Barbara

Pastor Tim and his wife Barbara serve as the founding couple of Church on the Move.  After spending over 15 years in youth and worship ministry, they both felt the call of God to plant a very special church – bilingual with Spanish and English, multi-cultural, focused on seeing people thrive in their Christian faith, plus reaching out to others and helping plant other churches doing the same.  Tim and Barbara have a passion for the local church, a passion for families, and an immense desire to see people encounter God and become deeply rooted in His Word.

They have three children and two dogs called Nacho and Chorizo. They love the beach, boating on the lake, cooking, and playing music as a family

As the son of Latin American missionaries and church planters, Pastor Tim has been involved in church planting and international missions his entire life. After completing a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication and Bible, he went on to complete his master’s degree at Dallas Theological Seminary in Missions and Bible Exposition. He recently completed a doctorate degree in Church Growth and Church Planting from Erskine Theological Seminary.

Barbara is the daughter of a pastor and has been serving the Lord in music her entire life.  She is a gifted worship leader, producer of music, and mentor to women.  She has the heart to create leaders that serve through music and technology in the local church.

Cultural Values

Every church is unique; it has its own church culture. At Church on the Move, our culture is defined by 7 values that inform all our actions and decisions.

1

The Great Commission

Demonstrated by reaching 'new' people, challenging our 'current people' and re-engaging 'missing' people to be passionate disciples of Christ.

(Matt. 28: 18-20, Gal. 6: 1-5, James 5: 19-20, Heb. 10:25)

2

Multiplication

Demonstrated by multiplying churches, church leaders, business leaders and artists for God's kingdom.

(Acts, Ephesian 4:12-16, Romans 12: 1-2, Col. 1:28)

3

Innovation

Demonstrated by continuously innovating in art, technology, and methodology to reach a changing world with unchanging Gospel.

(Acts 17: 22-32, 1 Cor. 9:19-23, Acts 11:1-26)

4

Grace Saturation

Demonstrated by believing that the Grace of God moves us to be our best and to move toward people at their worst.

(Titus 2: 11-14, Ephesian 2: 8-10, Romans 5:15-21)

5

Simple Steps

Demonstrated by helping people see clearly their next step. We strive to make it easy to move closer to God and others.

(Mark 1: 16-20, 2 Peter 1: 3-11, 2 Peter 3:18)

6

Family

Demonstrated by helping the family with inter-generational challenges, marriage, children, youth, and employment.

(Deut. 6, Psalms 145:4, Micah 4:6)

7

Community

Demonstrated by having a "go and be - not a come and see - mentality."; providing resources, aid, and training in the local community.

(Matt. 15: 1-10, John 17, Act 1:8)

What We Believe

About Eternity

People are created to exist forever. Every person will exist either eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through His forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is hell. To be eternally in union with him is heaven. Heaven and hell are places of eternal existence.

About God

God is the creator and sustainer of everyone and everything.  He is eternal, infinite, and unchangeable in his power and perfection, goodness and glory, wisdom, justice and truth.  Nothing happens except through him and by his will.  There are three persons in the one true and living God:  the Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit.  They are the same in substance, equal in power and glory.

About Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus was born of the virgin Mary by miraculous conception, lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days, demonstrating His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory where He is the only Mediator between God and people. He will return again to earth and will reign as King of kings and Lord of lords.

Make Disciples

We believe Jesus’ last command, found in Matthew 28: 18- 20, is our first priority.  We are to ‘go’ and ‘make disciples’.

Grow

We believe all Christians are called to grow towards being mature disciples of Christ.

Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the initiator and enabler for the Christian life.  He is God, coeternal with the Father and the Son, and that God grants him permanently to all who believe. The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian seeks to live under His control daily.

Salvation

Salvation is a gift from God. Men and women can never make up for their sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can a person be saved from sin’s penalty. When God has begun a saving work in the heart of any person, He gives assurance in His Word that He will continue performing it until the day of its full consummation.

The Bible

The Bible is the infallible Word of God, the only perfect rule of faith and life. The Bible, both Old and New Testaments, is God’s word to all. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. The Scriptures are inspired by God and are infallible and inerrant in the original manuscripts. They are the unique, full, and final authority on all matters of faith and practice, and there are no other writings similarly inspired by God.

The Ten Commandments

The Ten Commandments are the summation of people’s mankind’s responsibility to God and to one another.

Together

Family worship and supporting the church financially, volunteering and in prayer are encouraged.

Leadership

The New Testament sets forth a pattern of leadership by elders and deacons. Each congregation elects these officers in a democratic manner. Both women and men serve in leadership roles in ministry and serving as deacons. We believe the leadership position of elder is for men as a pattern set forth in the Old and New Testaments as an issue of leadership order, not as a statement of superiority.

Baptism and The Lord's Supper

The sacraments given by God and instituted by Christ, namely baptism and the Lord’s Supper, are visible signs and seals that we are bound together as a community of faith by his death and resurrection.  We believe in the sacrament of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper, neither save us, but affirm God’s promises and our commitments.

The Return of Christ

We believe Christ is coming again for his people, the Church.

About God's Dependability

Because God gives men and women eternal life through Jesus Christ and adopts them as His own, salvation is received and maintained by the grace and power of God—not by the self-effort of the Christian. It is the grace and keeping power of God that gives believers the assurance of salvation. No power in the universe can separate God’s children from Him.

About Faith and Practice

Scripture is the final authority in all matters of faith and practice. This church recognizes that it cannot bind the conscience of individual members in areas where Scripture is silent. Rather each believer is to be led in those areas by the Lord, to whom he or she alone is ultimately responsible.

Spiritual Gifts

We believe that all the spiritual gifts are functional in some capacity today. However, we are cautious regarding what has been called “supernatural gifts.” (tongues, interpretation, healings, and prophecy). Although such miraculous gifts continue today, this in no way allows for lightness regarding their manifestation and validation. We see four tests in the New Testament that every alleged “supernatural gift” must pass to be considered true: [1] the test of harmony with biblical revelation, [2] the test of bringing unity to the church, [3] the affirmation by mature people of God and[ 4] the proof of the orderly fulfillment of the apostolic instructions as given in the Scriptures.
