Baptism at Grace

Baptism is the first step of faith for anyone who believes in Jesus.

It’s a sacrament – an outward visible sign of the inward, spiritual work God is doing in your heart. At Grace, we host a party for baptism!

What is baptism?

The Bible is clear: the very first step for someone who’s chosen to repent and follow Christ is the sacrament of baptism. We are baptized to follow the examples set by Christ (Mark 1:9), because Christ commanded it (Matthew 28:19-20), and because it demonstrates that we are believers (I John 2:3; Romans 6:3-4; Acts 2:41; Acts 8:12).

Obedience in baptism says “I belong to God.” It is a public witness to your faith and a symbol of the transformation of your life – that you have repented of sin, died to self, and alive in God. In this way, it illustrates Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection.
(1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Colossians 2:12).

Baptism at Grace is a true celebration of changed lives. We celebrate it together to rejoice in the hearts God is transforming at our church.

Who should be baptized?

Every person who trusts in Jesus Christ for their salvation should be baptized. Having decided to trust Jesus alone for their salvation, they follow Him in baptism as a symbol of their new life in Him.

“Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.” (Acts 2:41)

“On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.” (Acts 19:5)

“And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on his name.” (Acts 22:16)
